Wayne Stabiler, Jr., CEO of Disaster Resource Group, today announced the donation of nearly 20,000 meals to prepare and give to families in Lake Charles affected by Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
The massive culinary event and family meal giveaway will take place on Saturday, December 19 at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
Holiday meals will be portioned and packaged for distribution to 2,000 families via a âfamily meal trayâ to feed eight to ten people.
The traditional festive meal specially prepared with roast turkey and all the trimmings will be provided free of charge via the contactless vehicle distribution at an event called âHoliday Helpings Family Meal Giveawayâ.
Meal distribution begins at 10 a.m. until all meals have been donated on a first come, first served basis.
âWe are deeply grateful for providing emergency services to the hard-working power restoration crews at Lake Charles; and we know firsthand that this community has suffered tremendous losses. In addition, they fight against fatigue related to COVID.
We want to bring some hope and happiness to this community, âadded Stabiler. -more- Holiday Helpings Family Meal Giveaway / 2 Disaster Resource Group works with the Mayor’s Office of Lake Charles and United Way of Southwest Louisiana to manage the event as well as to encourage churches, civic organizations, non-profit organizations and new media to get information out to those who need it most in this local community.
