Disaster authorities organize workshops on disaster preparedness

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], October 14 (ANI): A workshop on capacity building on disaster risk reduction for a safer society was organized by the authorities on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Reduction in Srinagar, Jammu -and-Kashmir.
The aim of the workshop was to train students, teachers from different colleges and faculty members of the university.
It aimed to train participants to deal with emergencies during any disaster, including fires, earthquakes and snow avalanches.

Speaking to ANI, Director of Disaster Management Amir Ali said, “For faculties and students, we also did a mock exercise. We gave practical and theoretical instructions.

Majid Hassan, a student from the University of Kashmir, said: “We were lectured by disaster management experts on natural disasters. The trainers gave live demonstrations on how to deal with the situation. This workshop was very useful and informative for us. Such workshops should be in the future so that more people can learn.

Ajaz Ahmad Dar, a trainer, said: “We did live demonstrations to make it clear. With the help of hands-on demonstrations, participants get many benefits and gain good knowledge about helping victims when such an incident occurs. (ANI)
