Launch of the national plan for the prevention and control of natural disasters | Environment

Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) coordinated with the ministries, sectors and localities concerned to build a national plan for the prevention of natural disasters and control to 2025.

According to Decision No. 342/QĐ-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on March 15, 2022, the plan defines the main tasks for the period 2021-2025 to implement the strategy for the prevention and control of natural disasters of here 2030, with a vision for 2050.

The overall objective is to improve the capacity for the prevention and control of natural disasters, as well as the adaptation to climate change in order to react proactively and reduce the damage caused by natural disasters.

The plan focuses on completing laws, mechanisms and policies; disseminate laws and jurisdictions and raise public awareness; capacity building for the prevention and control of natural disasters; improving disaster forecasting and warning; conduct baseline surveys and develop master plans and plan for natural disasters prevention and control; promote international cooperation and the application of science and technology; and invest in infrastructure.

To effectively implement the objectives set forth in the plan, MARD requested ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies and people’s committees of provinces and central cities to focus on popularizing the contents of the plan, particularly those related to the management of the State. .

The aforementioned agencies will be responsible for specifying the tasks and projects entrusted to them in order to build an appropriate implementation schedule to ensure synchronization, consistency and efficiency.

They are called upon to dispose of funds from the State budget, the natural disaster prevention and control funds and other social resources; and integrate the prevention and control of natural disasters in relevant projects with Circular No. 10/2021/TT-BKHDT of December 22, 2021 from the Ministry of Planning and Investment./.
