Learn more about supporting natural disasters with a unique exhibition on resilience | Advertiser Wollondilly

Residents of the Highlands and Wollondilly have the opportunity to learn more about accessing support after natural disasters through this year’s program Expo on response, recovery and resilience.

Wingecarribee Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council have partnered with the National Recovery and Resilience Agency to host the exhibition on May 3-4.

Attendees will be educated about the risks of natural disasters and what they can do to keep their family, friends and pets safe in an emergency and after something has happened.

Community members will also be empowered to know where to find reliable information and how to care for others, the environment and local wildlife.

The exhibition will take place at Mittagong RSL from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on May 3 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 4.

Residents will hear from guest speaker, Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons of Resilience NSWAnne Leadbeader of Leadbeater Groupand speakers from CSIRO, Insurance Council of Australia and both councils on May 3.

It will be followed by guest speakers from Blue ecological houses, Wellness Community Linksthe national charity GIVIT and charity habitat for humanity May 4.

There will also be over 30 vendors in attendance, providing free information and resources.

It’s a free event, but registration is essential and you can attend in person or via Zoom.
