‘Resilient’ volunteers organize an emergency training exercise | Community

When Los Altos suffers a major disaster (think earthquake, storm, or fire raging from the hills), residents can be alone for 72 hours or more.

Firefighters and police first responders will be busy helping schools, nursing homes and other densely populated areas, leaving neighborhoods to assess damage and injuries and determine who will make 911 calls when cell service is interrupted or the 911 lines are saved.
