Srinagar: Government Secretary for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR), Nazim Zai Khan reviewed the disaster preparedness measures put in place for the conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra, during a high-level meeting today.
The meeting was attended by DMRRR Special Secretary, Suraj Rakhwal, Additional Deputy Assistant Commissioner Anantnag and Ganderbal, Joint Director of Department of Information Kashmir, SEOC Nodal Officer, Aamir Ali, Deputy Commander SDRF 1st Bn, Deputy Commander NDRF 13th Bn, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kangan & Pahalgam, Deputy Director Kashmir Fire and Emergency Services, Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal & Anantnag, Deputy Director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Tehsildar Relief Department, SDMA Consultants and other Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board stakeholders.
The DMRRR Secretary advised all stakeholders to ensure that all necessary measures are put in place so that Yatries does not face any problems, especially in the event of bad weather or natural calamity.
He advised CDAs who are also CEOs of District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) to update the Disaster Management Plan for Shri Amarnathji Yatra and update contact details with geolocations of all officers, especially rescue teams, deployed en route on both routes.
Khan advised all officers to update the inventory of resources on the IDRN network of relevant and neighboring districts.
It was also informed that a tabletop exercise and a two-day mock exercise are being organized in coordination with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in Baltal and Nunwan, where practical exercises will be conducted at both locations, to test readiness to face all aspects. related to the Yatra.
