Waterworks chief discusses disaster preparedness with council | Local News

MURRAY – With water shortages making a lot of headlines lately, the town’s water plant manager spoke to Murray City Council on Thursday about how the plant is prepared to deal with the any crisis that may arise.

“There have been so many situations in our country and around the world recently where cities have run out of water, like Marion, Kentucky, Jackson, Mississippi, and of course the natural disasters in eastern Kentucky and locally in western Kentucky with the tornado,” Mayor Bob Rogers said. “A lot of people have lost their water and, as you’ve heard me say, 97% of people in Calloway County get their water from the town of Murray. So every once in a while we ask ourselves, “Are we prepared if something like this were to happen” or “How can we be better prepared?” »
